Questions about payroll cost

Still have a question?

Ask us directly
How much does an employee cost an employer in Egypt?

The gross salary plus the employer’s social insurance: 18.75% of the insurable wage, which in 2026 is capped at EGP 16,700 a month. Above the cap, the employer pays at most EGP 3,131.25 a month in insurance.

Is income tax a cost to the employer?

No. Income tax, employee insurance and the martyrs’ fund come out of the employee’s gross. The employer pays them over, but they are part of the gross salary.
