How it works
Same rules as the salary calculator
It searches for the gross whose net, after insurance, tax and the martyrs’ fund, matches yours to the piastre.
Insurable wage
Insurance is worked out on the gross, kept between the 2026 minimum and maximum insurable wage.
Full month
For a fixed monthly salary with no overtime, bonuses or deductions.
How do I work out the gross from a net salary in Egypt?
Because tax is progressive and insurance is capped, there is no single formula. The calculator tries gross salaries until the net after insurance, income tax and the martyrs’ fund matches the net you entered.
Why does the gross rise faster than the net?
Each extra pound of gross is taxed at your highest bracket, up to 27.5%, so you need more than one pound of gross for each pound of net.
Does it include the employer’s cost?
Yes. It adds the employer’s 18.75% social insurance on the insurable wage to show the full monthly cost.
